Shusmanouche at the Vernon Jazz Club
Gypsy Jazz in Vernon
My buddy Philippe called me last week to see if I wanted to join him for an evening of gypsy jazz at the Vernon Jazz Club Saturday night. There was no hesitation since I heard this band (minus Neil Fraser) about a year ago at The Bean Scene Coffee House. This style of music is intoxicating and instantly puts me in a good mood. My feet were tapping to the beat and I found it almost impossible to sit still listening to the groove of the gypsy jazz.

The background music in the above slide show is the original Django Reinhardt recording of "Minor Swing". This was one of the many Django tunes they played. I hope the band won't mind. HD video at Youtube here. I warmly recommend this band if you should get the chance to see them. Below are a few of my favorite captures from the evening.
