Barcelona Photo Essay

I feel most in my element when walking around the city with the sun on my back and a fresh battery in the camera. Much more so than I do at any tourist attraction with an admission fee or a line-up. I love catching life as it is and I try to go unnoticed.

For people photography, if someone spots me, I will look for that split-second moment where they give consent to take the photo. If they show any sign of being upset, I will not take the photo or if I do, it will never see the light of day. Luckily this rarely happens.

Street photography becomes easier in a big city where there are many other distractions. People are either used to photographers or they are preoccupied with going about their daily business. Below are photos captured over the course of five days in Barcelona with a Fujifilm X-Pro2.
