Yellowstone National Park - Day Three
Day three in Yellowstone was the day of many scenic shots. Rivers, valleys, lakes, clouds, meadows; you name it, we saw it. I believe our first stop of the day was at Swan Lake. Early morning here is so pristine. Of course the sun was gentle to us for yet another day. A great way to start the day.
I consider the Grand Prismatic Springs the most impressive of the geysers in Yellowstone. We spend some time here taking in the many colours. We also made the short hike to a hill behind the springs and captured a few overview shots.
A few clouds rolled in as we did the south loop of the park. Another drive up through Hayden Valley was scenic again but we did not see much wildlife on this stretch.
For this last night in Yellowstone we headed out to West Yellowstone. Again it seemed like we got our hands on the last hotel room in town. We were very surprised to see the area this busy. But then again the weather was gorgeous and this was considered the last week of summer. On our way out to West Yellowstone we made one stop by the river and a meadow. We did get a bit of rain at dusk but lucked out as an elk entered the scene just as it was getting dark.
