Okanagan Health and Wellness Magazine - Spring Cover

Leanne and Maureen from Okanagan Health and Wellness called me back for another cover shoot , this time for the spring edition. I met the channel swimmers at the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre in Kelowna. We only had brief time slot at the pool for the cover shot. Admittedly things got a bit shaky with me standing on the three metre diving board and having lights rigged up with water splashing around us. A quick couple of minutes on the diving board and someone called: "It's a wrap" as we had to give up the pool to the next group of swimmers. Thanks to Tracey, Mike, Phread, Leora and Denise for being good sports. I got a chance to meet them all for portraits before the group shot and I wish them the best of luck on the English Channel this summer. We will be shooting the the summer cover in the near future and I am certainly looking forward to it.

One Night in Summerland

It is amazing how much you can explore in 24 hours. Our son was teaching at the Shakespeare Festival in Summerland over the weekend so we decided to drive down from Vernon last week to see him for a few hours before he started at the Festival. We have been to Summerland many times for soccer or for the Shakespeare Festival but have never stayed there. We stayed at an affordable but clean and pleasant motel. Drove down the scenic Matsu Drive. We had amazing coffees and fresh baked croissants and baguette at the wonderful bakery on Main Street. We also spent a few hours in Penticton where lunch is always at hit at the Dream Cafe. The weather has been tropical here for the past week. High twenties to low thirties with sun every day. Mark my word. It's always nice to get away, even if its only for a day. 

Soccer - Seaton vs. PVSS

It was a perfect afternoon for a high school soccer game yesterday. 19 degrees and overcast, my favourite conditions to photograph soccer. We went out to the beautiful field at Pleasant Valley Senior Secondary in Armstong. W.L. Seaton from Vernon won the game 5-2 in an action packed game. I have included a shot of the ref today. Kudos to him as he kept his cool. One our players didn't agree on an off side call and uttered: "No way Jose"!, and the ref just repeated it with a huge grin on his face, "No way Jose"?

Okanagan Trestles Tour

Glenn Bond is the master mind behind the idea of the upcoming bike event taking place on July 14th 2013 in the Myra Canyon near Kelowna. Glenn came to me in the fall and we started working on his site together. I have also supplied most of the photos you see on the site. Since then Glenn has continued to promote the Okanagan Trestles Tour and it is promising to be stellar inaugural event for the many riders who have signed up already. I have have been to the Myra Canyon a couple of times and if you haven't tried riding the Myra Canyon trail make sure you check out Glenn's site and mark the date in you biking calendar. www.okanagantrestlestour.com
